About Our Healing Therapies
At Baldivis Wellness Centre, we honour the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and its holistic approach to health and wellbeing. Rooted in thousands of years of practice, Chinese Medicine views the body as an interconnected system where balance between mind, body, and spirit is essential for true health.
Our therapies draw on these timeless traditions, combined with modern techniques, to support your body’s natural healing and restore harmony. Each treatment is personalised to your unique needs, helping you achieve lasting relief and wellbeing.
Our Services and Their Traditional Roots
Chinese Medicine
TCM is based on the concept of Qi (vital energy) flowing through pathways called meridians. When this flow is disrupted, illness and discomfort can occur. By restoring balance through acupuncture, herbal remedies, diet, and lifestyle changes, TCM addresses both the root causes and symptoms, promoting harmony and vitality throughout the body and mind.
Acupuncture & Electro-Acupuncture
Acupuncture uses fine needles inserted into specific points along the meridians to stimulate Qi flow and unblock energy pathways. Electro-acupuncture enhances this stimulation by applying gentle electrical currents, boosting the body’s healing response. These methods have been used for centuries to relieve pain, reduce stress, and treat a wide range of conditions from digestive issues to emotional imbalances.
Glass Cupping Therapy
An ancient technique dating back to early Chinese medical texts, cupping uses glass cups to create suction on the skin, drawing stagnant blood and toxins to the surface. This improves circulation, eases muscle tension, and supports the body’s natural detoxification processes. It is especially effective for respiratory conditions, chronic pain, and muscle stiffness.
Bowen Therapy
While Bowen Therapy originates from modern naturopathic methods, it shares the TCM philosophy of gentle, non-invasive treatment that encourages the body to self-correct and heal naturally. Through subtle movements over muscles and connective tissue, Bowen Therapy helps rebalance the nervous system and promote pain relief.
Gua Sha
A traditional scraping technique that stimulates circulation and helps release toxins by gently scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool. Used for centuries in Chinese culture, Gua Sha is known to reduce inflammation, relieve muscle pain, and boost the immune system. It is often applied to treat colds, fevers, and musculoskeletal discomfort.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion involves burning dried mugwort (moxa) near acupuncture points to gently warm and stimulate energy flow. This warming therapy is deeply rooted in Chinese Medicine and is valued for its ability to strengthen Qi, improve circulation, and treat cold or stagnant conditions such as menstrual cramps, digestive issues, and fatigue.
